How the list rate works

Letters are priced by page 1 + extra pages. We count pages from your PDF (or the composed letter) on the client and again on the server. The first page is the class base; every page after that is $0.25, whether First-Class or Certified.

Postcards are a flat $1.99 per 4×6 piece. There is no extra-page line.

Electronic Return Receipt is an optional $2.40 add-on on Certified Mail only. It does not apply to First-Class or postcards.

Credits are 1:1 with USD cents. Optional coupon codes on the API and MCP change the charged or quoted cents. They do not change LetterStream postage behavior, and staging keys still never buy postage.

Which class to pick

First-Class

Everyday correspondence: invoices, thank-yous, notices that do not need proof of mailing. #10 envelope. Fastest path from PDF to USPS.

Certified Mail

When the piece should not vanish into ordinary First-Class — legal notices, demand letters, anything you may need to prove you mailed. Optional Electronic Return Receipt adds electronic delivery evidence.

Postcard

A 4×6 color card, both sides. Flat rate, no page overage. Use it for short notes, not multi-page documents.

    Top up in the workspace. Cards settle on Square. USDC settles through x402. Balance is 1:1 with USD cents.

  • Pay per send

    Agents can mail without a prior balance: guest send_letter returns HTTP 402, then USDC on Base or Solana.

Pricing questions

How are extra pages billed?

Letters bill $1.49 (First-Class) or $12.99 (Certified) for the first page, then $0.25 for each additional page. Postcard is a flat $1.99 and has no page overage. Page count is taken from the PDF on the client and checked again on the server.

Is there a monthly subscription?

No. You pay per piece. Credits are 1:1 with USD cents and never expire as a membership fee. Unused credits stay on the workspace.

When should I send Certified Mail?

Use Certified when you need USPS proof of mailing — notices, legal correspondence, anything that should not disappear into ordinary First-Class. The $12.99 base includes the first page. Add Electronic Return Receipt ($2.40) when you want electronic delivery evidence.

How do I pay?
